Maretti, Sangiovese, Chianti, 2018
Black olive, bittersweet black cherry fruit with herbal anise/black jelly beans and a touch of cola before a sweaty, meaty edge. The svelte and modern palate gives a full bodied experience, if somewhat a little smooth and potentially tempered for Australian tastes, it does maintain that distinct herbal savoury presence and quite fine tannin structure. Fantastic with a tomato based pasta.
