The Richardson series from Blue Pyrenees are dedicated to the late Colin Richardson, the former fine wine director for Blue Pyrenees. A “larger than life character who lived, breathed & loved wine.” This blend has splashes of Malbec and Shiraz. While the RRP is $72, Blue Pyrenees offer a generous discount to club members. Bottled under DIAM cork. Note: The medals adorning the bottle image are for a previous vintage.
Blue Pyrenees Estate, Richardson, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pyrenees, 2018
Complex and layered: Bay leaf, brine, black currant, warm blackberry jus, choc-mint biscuit, woody pencil shaving with bitter iodine flecks, “Bourneville” powdered chocolate and earthy clay. Finely structured with an almost austere, precise palate. There’s a stillness and a calmness to the wine that wonderfully balances Cabernet’s sweet and savoury facets. A lingering cool mint finish over the tight grain superfine tannin leads to a refined wine.
