Sourced from the Cottage Block, a unique micro climate on the Dalrymple landscape, sheltered from cool breezes and retaining warmth. Around 30% whole bunch in the ferment with maturation in French oak (40% new). Vigneron is he of the firm, warm handshake, Pete Caldwell.
Dalrymple, Cottage Block, Pinot Noir, Tasmania, 2017
Profound and moving. Dark cherry, exotic five-spice, the deepest rose petal and velvet, ripe blackberry on the pull away, soft ashen note with some meaty chocolatey depth. Carries dark brooding fullness of body beyond any initial label impressions. Paper ash texture (like the burnt leaves of a book as they fall), bitter orange flecks through highly spiced dark cherry and an undercurrent of electric dangerous intent pulses through superfine tannins. Evocative.
