d’Arenberg, The Laughing Magpie, Shiraz, Viognier, McLaren Vale, 2016
Glossy cherry, raspberry and red plum notes , chocolate muffin, apricot tart, a dash of cedar, ginger root, bay, green peppercorn, raisin and pink marshmallow fluffiness. Full bodied with fine yet rough, raspy tannins that dry and cling. Darkly fruited with some jangly acidity that attacks like a diving version of the label towards the finish. Missing a little cohesive suppleness at the moment to be a great S/V blend. Give it a big decant or wait a couple of years.
