Taken from an Old Vine vineyard on Mengler’s Hill, classed as the Barossa Ranges, but high and cool enough to have southern Eden influences. This is Alex Head’s flagship red, and a bargain in its own right.
Head Wines, The Redhead, Shiraz, Barossa, 2018
Deep, evocative Barossa pure. Near perfect plum and just out of the oven fruitcake. Ground pepper, ironstone, warm pain a chocolat and quality oak giving a vanilla blossom sheen . Full and filling: no corner of the canvas left untouched. Not a skerrick of misstep, just reams of deep flavour and texture that commands its continuous presence for many long minutes.
