Here we have a cellar re-release of the 2012 Shiraz from Wynns. Winemaker Sue Hodder saw the vintage as “low yielding” and an “early long ripening season provided optimal flavour development.”
Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Shiraz, Coonawarra ,2012
Absolutely in the groove. Resplendent with blackberry and plump dark plums while the oak influence is still present with a sweet mocha, vanilla peck over black olive savoury edges and black pepper corns with earthy nutmeg spice. Hints of maturity: some meaty pan juices just starting to develop. Medium-full palate, still with a solid platform of velvety tannin providing the base for the dark fruit. Still with a good length and capable of a few more years in the cellar.
