Gundog Estate, Hunter’s, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2019
Dust, chalk, white pepper and clove spice sprinkled across easy plum and tight red berries with a little “ant walking on gumtree.” Refined, the palate taut and with a fine, elegant structure. Tannins are dry and the finish draws tight to leave lingering licorice and smoky bacon. Plenty of cellaring potential for this modern take on Hunter Burgundy.
