This is a blend of quality vineyards from across the central Hunter Valley. Tinkler’s, Somerset and Will’s Hill. Note, bottle image is of the 2017 but only the year has changed.
Gundog Estate, Hunter’s, Shiraz, Hunter Valley, 2019
Dust, chalk, white pepper and clove spice sprinkled across easy plum and tight red berries with a little “ant walking on gumtree.” Refined, the palate taut and with a fine, elegant structure. Tannins are dry and the finish draws tight to leave lingering licorice and smoky bacon. Plenty of cellaring potential for this modern take on Hunter Burgundy.
