Wolf Blass Makers’ Project wines are aimed at “millennial” wine drinkers Senior Winemaker Clare Dry states that they intend to make these wines “not only tasty, but fresh, original and exciting.” They’re keenly priced and well packaged, certainly liable to hit their target.
Wolf Blass, Makers’ Project, Shiraz Grenache, South Australia, 2019
Deep garnet, bright rim. Easy raspberry confection, “Redskin” lolly, blueberry, milk chocolate, woody spice, blue metal earthy tones and a slight meaty reduction. Medium-full bodied. Smooth, supple, fruit sweet and easy. Some peppery piquant spice, but overwhelmingly like a red fruit dessert jus. There’s little grip and some coffeed mocha serious notes through the finish, but ultimately feels a little one-dimensional..
