While Di Giorgio have their heart in Coonawarra, access to vibrant, newer areas in the greater Limestone Coast region provide the opportunity for such “new” varieties.
Di Giorgio Family Wines, Montepulciano, Limestone Coast, 2019
Bright mulberry staining purple in colour. Heady and floral aromas, plenty of red cherry and blue/purple fruit with some ash and iodine/bitumen depth. Choc nut sweetness and a little fresh tobacco. Soft, plush and supple lead in with a little waxiness before a lifted bright tail with almost breakfast juice acidity. Carries a neat little dusting of spice too, open the bottle just as you take the pizza out of the oven.
