Castle Rock Estate Shiraz 2018

A slight label change from the 2017 with the label now showing “Great Southern” but the back label still showing as the fruit coming from Porongurup. The price is RRP below, but you can get a large discount buying direct from Castle Rock Estate. Made by the talented Rob Diletti.

Castle Rock Estate, Shiraz, Porongurup, 2018

Spiced pepper and milk choc oak with earthy, almost tobacco influences before more fruit driven compounds emerge: plum, dark cherry and even a touch of just picked blackberry. Assertive and confident while staying truly mid-bodied. The fruit is even and persistent with a fine floor of tannin. Clean and bright to finish with well judged spice and lift.

RRP: $34
Alc: 13.8%
Rating: 17.75/20 (93/100)
