The Trinders label has always been the most “accessible” of Cape Mentelle’s red wine range. The Australian blend of Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon blended and balanced. Technically a blend of 55% Shiraz, 40% Cabernet, 3% Merlot and 2% Zinfandel for seasoning.
Cape Mentelle, Trinders, Margaret River, 2018
Voluptuously layered with quality bittersweet dark chocolate, cinnamon spice, strap molasses, spiced plums, hibiscus tea, dark berries: boysenberry, blackberry with sweet vanilla oak with cool mint, pencilly hints and a baton twirl of violet fruit and mocha. Wonderfully adamant tannins providing a firm base. There’s so much charisma to this wine: it’s dark, it’s full, it’s serious, it’s aromatic and ultimately it’s chock full of quality, balanced fruit.
