Vino Intrepido Nero’s Fiddle Nero d’Avola 2020

James Scarcebrook sourced fruit from the pioneering Chalmers family Merbein vineyard in north west Victoria for this early release red. The fruit de-stemmed and on skins for one week when it started active fermentation. Pressed off to complete fermentation in a stainless steel tank, transferred to three old French oak puncheons (500L). Four months in barrel then racked off lees, blended and bottled.

Pretty, dark nose with black cherry, dried cranberries, violet flowers, white pepper and confectionary licorice. Simply structured with a little rasp of tannins for interest, this is all about the bright jubey, super approachability and drinkability.
