The Little Giant range strike out with these Little Batch range, still in the stocky, stout package representative of its label showing the southern hairy-nose wombat, South Australia’s fauna emblem and supporting WIRES wildlife rescue. This one sees a blend of “Rioja” styling but closer to home in the Barossa.
Little Giant, Little Batch, Grenache/Tempranillo, Barossa Valley, 2019
Fun and dark. With herby, red jubey action and some leafy tomato stalk, this is kissed with a hint of vanilla bean sweetness. A little thick through the palate, bordering on syrupy with drying, peppery spice to finish. The tannins a touch chunky, the acidity keen and there’s some spirity warmth and lift, but it’s a nod to the style.
