Cabernet Sauvignon often seems to be the forgotten red grape in McLaren Vale, but when it’s done well it can shine.
Serafino, Cabernet Sauvignon, McLaren Vale, 2019
Deep bruise purple in colour. Cassis and blackcurrant pastille with heady mint and a touch of earthy young eucalypt. Varietal pencilly graphite (could also be a McLaren Vale regional note) and sweet, creamy chocolate milk oak influence. Full bodied. Modern fruit profile with concentrated, sweet dark berries, earthy coffee with a hint of fresh mint lift backed by grippy, grainy, drying tannins permeate all corners of the palate. A solid, varietal Cabernet that won’t disappoint.
