Burton McMahon George’s Vineyard Pinot Noir 2020

The sibling to the Syme On Yarra Pinot from Matt Burton (Gundog Estate, Hunter Valley) and Dylan McMahon (Seville Estate, Yarra Valley) under their Burton McMahon label. The bottle image is of 2018, but nought else has changed.

Burton McMahon, George’s Vineyard, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, 2020

Medium garnet with a pigeon eye clear heart. Delicate rose petals, dark cherry, burnt orange zest with some fleshy charcuterie and fresh kitchen herbs. Tight and fine structure, with an almost needling tannin sensation that dries and firms neatly, to a sour cherry juicy finish with bright acidity. More restrained than its sibling, but no less classy.

RRP: $40
Alc: 13.5%
Rating: 18.5/20 (93/100)
