The straight Cab Sauv in the Masterstroke range. Taylor’s head across the state here, away from their home base in the Clare to renowned Coonawarra.
Taylors Estate, Masterstroke, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, 2019
Smooth, mod Oz profile, plenty of minty of crushed gum leaves, pencil shavings, cassis and olive and bay leaf/lamb stew. Dark olive and cassis fruit profile trough the medium-full body. Delivers dusty blackcurrant, black olive, pouch tobacco, vanilla tipped cigarillos, easy mint and cedary oak. A lift of youthful brightness at the finish over earthy, dusty and only just gripping tannin structure. A good Cabernet, though I’m not sure where it sits in the value spectrum
