Pinot Gris finds its French home in the cool mountain region of Alsace, so it’s no surprise that it has found a home in Tumbarumba, in the foothills of the Snowy Mountain Range. The Hunter Valley based Hungerford Hill have properly packaged this in a flute d’Alsace bottle.
Hungerford Hill, Pinot Gris, Tumbarumba, 2021
Pale – medium yellow colour that glides in the glass with some viscosity. Chamomile, vanilla bean, brown pear slices, honeycomb, peach fuzz and cress. Medium weight, but deftly handled. Structure and spice with latent power and a long finish. Serious Gris.
