Longview Saturnus Nebbiolo 2019

The flagship Nebbiolo from the Saturno family has had a slight makeover, now being bottled under screwcap and dropping the “Riserva” from the title.

Longview, Saturnus, Nebbiolo, Adelaide Hills, 2019

A fine, wan, pale cherry red in the glass (like all good Nebbiolo).  Chocolate, rose petals, cherries, blood orange, woody spice, earthy minerally graphite and hints of “root beer” licorice. Just medium bodied but, oh what joy and power. Intense and concentrated with layers of light red cherry/strawberry fruits, dried florals and grated cooking chocolate. The tannins are impeccable: dusty, yet firm and pervasive. Incredibly long tail of freshness. Built for the long haul.
