The Mercer range increases! Simply titled “Grigio,” Aaron Mercer takes fruit from the cooler New South Wales region of Hilltops. A little time on lees and some barrel work sees this as a “voguish approach” to the in-style variety.
Mercer Wines, Pinot Grigio, Hilltops, 2021
No need for pearl clutching here, Aaron has kept the colouring inside the lines, but definitely with vibrant colours. Usual suspects of fresh pear and honeysuckle/blossom are given a fine stablemate of nutty, creamy almond croissant inner. The two speed palate sees creamy weight and cool climate acidity in parallel and balance. Freshness abounds the entire length.
