Gundog Estate, Hunter’s, Semillon, Hunter Valley, 2021
Matt Burton, winemaker at Gundog reckons this one is the “more approachable” of their Semillon range. Carrying overt aromas of lemon and lime skin, there’s a roundness that comes with hints of double cream and new white candle wax. The body feels a little looser, more billowing than The Chase with more generous fruit profile rather than keen precision, while still carrying an intense green apple sharpness to the acid bite through the finish.
