Sourced from WCH’s 20+ year old Karri Oak vineyard (adjacent to their Langton winery in Mt Barker) which is planted to a mix of clones. The WCH website has this sold out, but there should be a little be out there in retail land.
West Cape Howe, Karri Oak, Pinot Noir, Mount Barker, 2020
Chocolate nib and dark cherry with some savoury creosote, earthy notes. Dark “pinosity” with truffle and thyme. Firm and slightly raw tannin structure and some surprising acidity through a medium-full, well structured frame. Lingering cherry and umami, almost bitter darkness. Definitely in the bigger end of the Pinot spectrum.
