Slight change in focus for typical Barossa with the release coming in the same vintage year to ensure vibrancy and zoosh. Made by young gun Sam Wigan out of the Yalumba stable of Hill Smith Family Vineyards. Wild ferment. Whole bunches. No wood. 4-5% Tempranillo seasoning.
Running With Bulls, Garnacha, Barossa Valley, 2021
Summer breakfast smells: Blueberry, raspberry and light plums with a slight oatmealy note. Herby spice of fennel body, pink salt and spearmint, with an earthy walnut husk base. Does well to invoke the warm latino vibes. In the words of Rob Thomas and Santana… “you’re so smooth.” Vibrant fresh berry with silky, slick and satiny slide. Just enough anise spice and punchy whole bunch tannic grip to move beyond a simple juice. Glasses 2 and 3 in the hot sun will have you singing, “Gimme your heart, make it real….or else forget about it.”
