Over 20 years ago, when I was at Uni and living the sharehouse life, Domaine A produced “home brand” Stoney Vineyard Cabernet in Magnums for a local, independent Hobart grocer that operated in Hill Street. I bought several of those for $30. How I’d give for a few of those remaining in the cellar! Domaine A now under the custodianship of the team at Moorilla.
Domaine A, Stoney Vineyard, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coal Valley, 2017
Fresh earth, warm blackberry, cassis liqueur, dark chocolate, cigar ash and with leafy cool climate tones of roast capsicum and bramble. Calm and with an old school tannin profile: slightly chewy tannins intertwined through cassis dark fruit and touches of animalistic leather, slathered in dark chocolate. Drink now to the next 5 years.
RRP: $35
Alc: 13.7%
Rating: 18.25/20 (93/100)
