*Counterpoint as the translation. There’s several definitions for counterpoint:
– a complementing or contrasting item
– use of contrast or interplay of elements in a work of art
– the technique involving the simultaneous sounding of two or more parts or melodies

Kerner (a.k.a Weisser Herold) hand harvested from the Fechner vineyard in the Eden Valley and offering the counterpoint to the usual Riesling that is the signature white grape of the region. This is the only straight bottling of Kerner in the southern hemisphere. Note, the 2020 is still available on the Chaffey Bros website as well as this new release.

Familiar and different. Guava and rosewater/lychee intrigue with pear/apple skin pomme influence, smoked honey, lime granita, white pepper spice and “fly spray” freshness. Betwixt and between on the palate: blind you may pick it for Gewurz with the palate weight and spiced rose/lychee fruit that is countered with bright and insistent acidity. A flourish of red apple to finish.
