Tim Adams, Aberfeldy, Shiraz, Clare Valley, 2018
Inky, opaque deep purple colour. Oak is opulent and evident. Come back tomorrow. Second day open: Oak is still dominant with bourbon edges, however the spiced dark fruit blossoms. Black plum and blackberry conserve with formic acid/crushed ant, fragrant pencilly woody spices (clove studs) and bittersweet dark chocolate licorice bullets. Succulence, elegance and cruiserweight power. Drying, tight tannin grips the concentrated dark fruit with a minty regional freshness and a long, intense focus. An easy 15 year+ prospect.
