The Hero (Of Zero) is Fourth Wave Wine’s “No Added Preservatives” label. From South Australian vineyards (apparently including McLaren Vale and the Barossa). Made to be consumed within about 45 seconds of purchase.

Dull lemon to gold in the glass. Checked trade notes: no mention of barrel ageing so immediately we’ve an issue with oxidation (that is usually prevented by a little SO2). Flat nose: mushy tropical fruit, cardboard, damp leaf matter and wet earth, streamed asparagus and lime cordial. Tart, sour and anorexically thin. Oxidative bruised apple with cloying bittersweet grapefruit citrus and lime jelly crystals. Short finish. Possibly the most disappointed I’ve been in a Fourth Wave Wine release.
