Oxford Landing’s home on the banks of the Murray River are now gracing the new labels for the Oxford Landing wines (part of the Hill Smith Family Vineyards (think Yalumba) stable). Not sure why a 2019 at $13 is the current release, but there we are. Winemaker is Matt Zadow.
Oxford Landing, Shiraz, Riverland, 2019
Deep garnet hue. Lifted and perhaps a touch volatile. Toffee apple, chocolate ganache, white pepper, blackberry jam, stainless steel with earthy mushroom fin and vanilla bean paste. Unfortunately its freshness has passed. Jagged acidity with savoury notes coming through: balsamic tones with a flat, bitter and chary finish.
RRP: $13
Alc: 13.5%
Rating: 16/20 (85/100)
