Can it be done? Can there be a < $15 Chardonnay that actually tastes like Chardonnay?? Anyways, in the meantime Oxford Landing have rebranded their labels with the logo depicting the sun over the water ( Oxford Landing’s home on the banks of the Murray River) . Winemaker is Andy La Nauze. The winemaking is vegan friendly, if that’s important.
Oxford Landing, Chardonnay, Riverland, 2022
The wine is a pale lemon gold hue in the glass. Honeycomb, rich yellow stone fruit, butter foil, grilled nuts. balsa wood and yellow melon. Medium bodied with tacky, waxy phenolics. The fruit sits in an echo of the initial upfront generosity and width with things falling away pretty rapidly. Lingering honeycomb and buttery feel. Not the best in the range.
