Arguably one of the best names for a wine ever. From the label that is Nick Haddow (Bruny Island Cheese/Beer/Milk) and Jeremy Dineen (previously head honcho at Josef Chromy and now doing his own thing and doing it well). From one of the oldest vineyards in the Tamar Valley. Label darker than the corvid of its namesake.
Haddow & Dineen, Crows Descended, Shiraz, Tamar Valley, 2021
Deep garnet, near opaque. Fine Belgian choc, rooibos, barbed wire, clove, black pepper corns. rose heart to Turkish Delight, mushroom fin and garam spice. Silky front to mid palate with sharp gunflint and spice snap. Red apple Tasmanian puckering acidity and fly screen tannins. Classy and understated with incredibly fine structure. Very very good.
