Flagship Cabernet here for Angullong. Matured in French oak (30% new, the rest 2 and 3 years old) for 12 months. Bottled under cork.
Angullong, Crossing Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, Orange, 2018
Plenty of varietal components on show: turned earth, cedary and creamy oak, pencil shavings with bramble, blackberry conserve, crushed old mint leaf and smoky bresaola cues. Slick and low slung Cabernet with a warmth and depth like a baked blackberry tart. Fine and gravelly tannins with a medium length to the focused finish punctuated by a bittersweet orange citrus freshness. Nicely done and ready to go now or in the medium term.
