Not to be confused with the Hilltop Hoods, the Hilltops region is near Young, in central/south NSW. I can’t imagine there’s much Fiano grown there, most Fianos I’ve come across are from South Australia, also where the Hilltop Hoods come from.
Hungerford Hill, Fiano, Hilltops, 2022
Mandarin and preserved lemon citrus with soft crushed bitter herbal leaf, cookie dough and pomme fruit skin. Dry with intense citrus focus. Some textural weight to the palate but it stays narrow and straight, regionality helping keep the acid. A winner with chicken and leek pie.
