Bryan Currie and the team let their hair down with this label. Pinot Noir fruit from high elevation Revee vineyard in Tumbarumba. 100% Carbonic maceration before fermentation completed in old French oak barriques. 4 months on yeast lees before bottling. No fining or any additions (apart from sulphur dioxide at bottling).
Hungerford Hill, The Underground Project, Pinot Noir, Tumbarumba, 2022
Pale cerise in colour. Lifted rich cherry fruit with orange skin, soft turned earth/forest floor and that almost confectionary red lolly from the carbonic maceration. Spiced and angular. Youthfully intense with juicy bones and dark savoury yeast influences. While I appreciate the endeavour, it needs food to cut through as it’s tough work on its own.
