While Yalumba have done plenty for enhancing the reputation of Viognier in Australia, it should be known that Tahbilk planted Viognier (and Roussanne) waaay back in 1990. A solid addition to their “Rhone” varieties.
Tahbilk, Viognier, Nagambie Lakes, 2022
Undeniably Viognier with rich apricot and waxy honeycomb, mandarin and lemon citrus, pink apple, bitter herbal seed and pink salt. Relishes in the duality of fleshiness and raciness. The plush middle palate like a comfortable cushion and before a sharp focus of acidity. Excellent Yum Cha option.
