Not much more to say for the intro to this wine. The team at Heggies (Hill Smith Family Vineyards) have the recipe right. Fermented and matured for 11 months in French oak barriques (28% new, 25% one year old and the rest older). Winemaker is Marc Van Halderen.
Heggies Vineyard, Estate, Chardonnay, Eden Valley, 2019
Pale lemon-straw hue with a green highlight. The winemaking work shows on the nose. Plentiful roast nuts, brioche, nougat, bacon fat, grapefruit citrus, white stone fruit skin and with smoke, cream and spice from the oak. Rich, almost luxurious palate that maintains its elegance with finesse and strong pulse of acidity. Finely tuned winemaking on show producing a delicious Chardonnay.
