This is the sibling to the Chardonnay. Oxford Landing claim this is *35% lighter in alcohol and calories than the standard Oxford Landing Shiraz. To achieve the reduced alcohol, the finished wine is put through a filtering process that separates out the alcohol molecules. Winemaker is Andy La Nauze.
SUNLIGHT* by Oxford Landing, Shiraz, Riverland, 2021
Bright purple. Ticks Shiraz boxes with malt biscuit, plum and cherry juice, blackcurrant, pouch tobacco, sweaty leather saddle, red licorice and milk chocolate. Has plenty of varietal flavour, even with a fair punch of peppery spice, but the palate lacking drive and depth due to the reduced alcohol. With the juicy finish and you’d be happy to have this at lunch (maybe even a chill?) with lamb salad or an antipasto platter.
