Longview make this Chardonnay in a particular unapologetic style. I’ve referred to previous vintages as ‘polarising‘ due to unique flavour profile. Oh well, best buy a bottle and judge for yourself.
Longview, Macclesfield, Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills, 2021
Pale lemon/gold in colour. Blonde oak and creamy latté with briny “roast chicken” flavoured potato crisps/chips, leesy influences to a dairy-like turn, with light grapefruit to lemon citrus and a stony coolness. Offering a little more generosity than other vintages, but still undeniably a savoury, driven and tense beastie. Long finish: juxtaposed juicy and dry, leaving the palate both sated and demanding more.
