The flagship Nebbiolo from the Saturno family has had a slight makeover, now being bottled under screwcap and dropping the “Riserva” from the title.
Longview, Saturnus, Nebbiolo, Adelaide Hills, 2020
Medium garnet hue. All liqueur cherries, rose wood, stalky spice, garam, rosewater, high toned cherry and lacquer wood, raspberry and strawberry melange with kisses of sweet oak. Initial palate of lies and deception: Silky front: all deep red fruits pretending to be your friend with sweet caresses before the truth is revealed and you’re met with a fierce barrier of electric fence acidity and firm, (still fine) tannins. The crush, the push. Drink if you want it dry now or give it time to mellow and come around to your way of thinking.
