Tread Softly Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2021

Well this is awkward. The label for the wine states that it is “Naturally lighter in alcohol,” sitting ay 11.8%, while the “technical info” on the website has the wine at 13.2% ABV. I think the labelling is going to be correct for the brand.
From vineyards in the Upper Yarra Valley. Minimal preservatives and naturally fermented. Maturation in large French oak. Made by the talented Tim Shand (best known for his work at Punt Rd wines and now at Voyager Estate). Fourth Wave Wine commits to planting an Australian Native Tree for every 6 pack of the Tread Softly wines sold.

Tread Softly, Pinot Noir, Yarra Valley, 2021

Tread Softly YV Pinot Noir

Light garnet in hue. Creamed cherry and strawberry fruit, sweet spiced oak with a little woodsmoke, gravel and burnt orange rind. Lightly framed (as expected) with some surprising intensity to the front palate and acid drive. Smoked meats and light strawberry red fruit through the middle with sour cherry and sour tannins through the loose knit and thin finish. A promising start let down by the finish.

RRP: $21.99
Alc: 11.8%
Rating: 17/20 (88/100)
