Calabria, based in the Riverina, but that’s a bit of a tough region for high quality Chardonnay, so they reach out to prime areas, in this case the Adelaide Hills, but have previously sourced fruit from Tumbarumba French oak fermentation and 9 months maturation sur lie. Some parcels allowed to go through MLF. Vegan friendly winemaking (if that’s important to you).
Calabria, Three Bridges, Chardonnay, Adelaide Hills, 2024

Pale hue. Opens with flinty struck match, green tea, green melon ripeness, nectarine stone fruit, vanilla and oak spice from barrel work, water cracker and little warm butter. Ripe and round, generous Chardonnay creamy flavours tempered with a little phenolic grip and regional acid focus. Well priced for quality, bolder Chardonnay, just lacking a little depth and persistence through the tail.
