Risky Business have their home base in Western Australia, but do source their “Italian” varietals from the stronghold of King Valley in NE Victoria. With Rob Quenby as vigneron, this wine made by Andrew Vesey, is a gold medal winner at the Winewise Small Vigneron Awards and served in First Class cabins on Qantas flights. Pretty impressive resume.
Risky Business, Pinot Grigio, King Valley, 2016
Light gold in the glass. Fruity nose with pear juice, papaya and even light grapefruit citrus. A little brown spice with fresh garlic clove for some complexity. Certainly not simple on the palate. Briny, salty with….dare I say it, minerality. Light pear fruit stays in the background, as a highlight to the almost steely texture. A pleasant surprise.
