The labeling is quite attractive, but the wording on the back (apart from the wine description) is generic to the “Galway” range. Disappointing from the usually reliable Yalumba. The vintage is rolling over, but this will still be found.
Yalumba, Galway, Shiraz, Barossa Valley, 2014
Aromas of deep Barossa plums and chocolate with Char Siu BBQ Pork sweetness and sesame paste/oil and finishes with some pipe tobacco. Palate carries an initial crispness along with creamy meaty sweetness. Boysenberry and fed fruit spectrum and the right amount of tannin, but it seems a little dull in the wrong spots when you want brightness. Still represents very good value and even a cellaring option for a couple of years.
