Part of me is always reminded of Prince when I see the Bishop label. The wine has nothing to do with the paisley purple guitar god Love Symbol of course, but the resemblance is striking. Or maybe it’s just me.
Bishop, Shiraz, Barossa Valley, 2015
Dark garnet, almost opaque with bright purple edges in the glass (maybe Prince gets a nod after all). Cool blue and black fruit with the faintest choc oak and licorice edge. Restrained yet driven by spice, ground black pepper and earthy, minerally bluestone. Palate full with glycerol, mercurial slipperiness. Plenty of clove studs, blackberry and clicky tannin. Big time Barossa on show here.
RRP: $33
