I visited the Yarra Valley in late April this year (full write up coming soon) which included a stop at TarraWarra Estate. Little expense has been spared in the creation of the new cellar door, set back into the earth so as not to intrude further into the natural contours.
TarraWarra Estate, Reserve, Chardonnay, Yarra Valley, 2015
Elegance and richness define the TarraWarra chardonnay range: there’s a resonance with the how the entire estate appears in the marque. 2015 has turned out a stellar vintage and this wine displays the hallmarks of stonefruit and light grapefruit before being enveloped with a judicious use of oak, and then all is replaced with a textural, nutty, tart citrus finish. The balance is on show already, yet without fear of disappointing those hoping to see what the benefits of time can deliver.
