Berton Vineyards, Reserve, Cabernet Sauvignon, Coonawarra, 2015

Coonawarra mint to the fore, with black olive, black currant and the very Australian smell of ants crawling along a thick gumtree branch. There’s some gunmetal and fennel spice too. She’s minty alright but not to the point of distraction. Small, slightly scrawny blackberries explode with their precious juice while drying tannins make for a Australian desert edge sunset feel. Easy to put this away for a decade.
