A big step up the Chardonnay ladder here from Singlefile. Sourced from the Singlefile estate vineyard planted in 1989, the wine whole bunch pressed then fermented in 40% new and 60% one year old French oak barriques. Eight months in oak with partial malolactic fermentation.
Singlefile, Family Reserve, Chardonnay, Denmark, 2017
The elegance is evident with a nose of rich (but not overripe) stonefruit, sweet spiced/toasty oak and grapefruit citrus. Not a hair out of place as the wine over delivers like a choir: each voice and part unique, but creating a harmonious song. Ripe grapefruit gives citrus high end to mid palate stonefruit depth and creamy basso continuum hums wonderfully. Power, with poise.
