A marriage of Dolcetto (45%) and Lagrein. A completely unique blend, no other of its kind even in Italy, the indigenous home of the two varietals.
Heartland Wines, Sposa e Sposa, Dolcetto, Lagrein, Langhorne Creek, 2016
Deep garnet heart which extends to the rim. Woody spice aromas of clove and star anise over blackberry coulis, pickled cherries, dark cabbage rose petal, crushed gravel with support from cedary French oak. Medium to full bodied with a playful nature. Interplay between the two varietals means the best of both worlds with Dolcetto’s fruit freshness preserved from stainless steel vinification giving lift to the earthy Lagrein. The tannins are robust without overwhelming. Barbeque / pasta wine match with its own identity.
