The Hill-Smith Estate of the greater Hill Smith Family Vineyards family (including Yalumba). 40% of the blend was (wild) fermented & matured for 5 months in French oak of which 16% were new barriques and the remainder in 1,2 and 3 year old oak. Winemaker is Teresa Heuzenroeder.
Hill-Smith Estate, Chardonnay, Eden Valley, 2018
Pale lemon gold with just green highlights. Lifted nose with cashew cream and mandarin peel over grapefruit and smoky peach. The balanced fermentation methods ensure a crisp palate with just the right amount of texture and complexity. Citrus to peachy stonefruit flavours with puckering acidity, a flinty spark and fine finish. Will last in the bottle by why bother? Super enjoyable Chardonnay right out of the bottle.
