Sam and Jock Auld are the 6th generation of a family who have been intertwined in the Australian wine fabric since the mid 1800’s. Their forebear, William Patrick was integral to pioneering the South Australian Wine industry and the faimly planted the legendary Auldana vineyard at Magill. This is their flagship red. Bottled under cork.
Auld Family Wines, William Patrick, Shiraz, Barossa, 2016
Lifted dark blackberry and plum fruits with sweet oak edges well supported with light anise spice, a meaty ferrous hint and a light menthol coda. The palate medium full with savoury/sweet/herbal black jelly bean and dark raspberry fruit. Tannins are raw and mouth coating and persist throughout a long tight finish. All angles and elbows for the moment, a jigsaw of pieces that will come together.
