Brokenwood, Indigo Vineyard, Pinot Noir, Beechworth, 2019
Pale garnet, but do not let depth of colour be the only criteria. Alluring aromas of stalky cherry and bitter orange float at me from the glass well before I get my nose anywhere near it. Dry strawberry, a touch of dried meats and mulchy fallen leaf ‘forest floor’ earthiness. Distinct biscuity spice and herb from 20% whole bunch inclusion. Silky, seamless palate with understated sour/sweet cherry, smoky rose petal and that orange bitters tang. Elegance and subtlety with gossamer tannins. Delectable.
