Hardys Wines, Eileen Hardy, Shiraz, McLaren Vale, 2016
Intense and powerful: positively dripping with dense rum n’ raisin chocolate, black plum, blackberry, smoky cedary oak with a bazaar of spice, black peppercorn, the signature McLaren Vale stony edge and sweet whiff of vanilla bean paste. Just as dense on the palate. A tour de force of chocolate and black/purple concentrated fruits: layers upon layers unfurl with that sweet edge as a cheeky wink. The oak is expected: full and quality, but not dominant. The tannins are silicon sandy and youthfully prevalent. The finish is tight, screw down closure indicating a long life ahead.
